Foundation of Kikau
Kikau was founded on 6 July 1984 from an idea by Giuseppe Montanaro, who had experience the boom of entrepreneurship, building the company thanks to professional ethics and a passion for innovation in the painting and shutter sector.
The first patent
In the same year, the first patent for the K001 mechanism was deposited, a torque-movement kit designed by the founder Giuseppe Montanaro. This innovative component was conceived to direct the slats with a modular structure.

1986
New patents
In 1986, 3 patents are deposited: one for the stick handle to move the directionable slats, one for the Kikau K70 Universal Series, and one for the Kikau armoured fixed slat shutter.

1987
Expansion in Italy
Starting in 1987, distribution centres opened, Nutek in Salento in 1987, Peki in Rome in 1989, Gek in Bologna and in Massarosa in Tuscany in 1990, marking a period of considerable expansion for the Kikau company.

Forklift truck patent
The patent for a Kikau order picker forklift truck was deposited, designed specifically to list and gather orders in a warehouse or distribution centre.

New patent
The patent for the Kikau Armoured Louvered Shutter with directionable slats was deposited.

1994
Expansion overseas
In 1994 Pakau was opened, a Kikau distribution centre in Villafranca del Penedés in Spain. The partnership with SDF, the Kikau distributor in Perpignan, France, began in the same year.

1998
Years of growth and innovation
Nel 1998, è stata completata la costruzione di un nuovo capannone su due livelli di 4500 mq lungo la via Appia a Massafra, rappresentando un significativo potenziamento delle infrastrutture produttive di Kikau in quella località.
Nel medesimo anno, viene depositato il brevetto per il modello Dekora.

Logistic expansion
A new 3000 m2 production building was completed along Via Appia in Massafra, further increasing Kikau’s production and logistic capacity.

Exclusive innovation with oxidation and painting
Kikau’s exclusive oxidation and painting plant for aluminium was finished, another important step towards technological innovation and the quality of the company’s production processes.

The K90 Series patent is deposited.

Patent for Alika deposited
The patent for Alika is deposited, a roller shutter with directionable slats, with innovative and practical design.

The patent for Alika Flat is deposited, a roller brise soleil that combines design and functionality.
